Management Accountant
Position Summary
The
purpose of the Management Accountant is to provide support to the finance
function, including but not limited to month end transactional processing,
internal management reporting, operating cost reporting and forecasting and ad
hoc financial analysis. (12 Month - Fixed Term)
Responsibilities
- Prepare period end reporting to Methanex head office and local management.
- Complete all intercompany sales activities & transfer pricing adjustments to ensure Methanex NZ revenue/cost of sales is accurately recorded.
- Act as the NZ point of contact for methanol sales intercompany customers.
- Prepare and complete variable cost accruals and adjusting entries including preparation of derivative accounting entries.
- Maintain the general ledger to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial reporting in line with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Methanex accounting policies.
- Process regular and ad-hoc journals as the business requires.
- Prepare monthly/quarterly account reconciliations as allocated.
- Support and assist the annual budget preparation process, particularly preparation of the variable cost budget.
- Partner with NZ budget holders to ensure accurate and appropriate operating cost forecasting.
- Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders to increase business understanding and role efficiency.
- Maintain working knowledge of relevant financial reporting standards and legislation.
- Adhere to appropriate standards and guidelines, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute and adhere to Sarbanes Oxley narratives for all activities relevant to this position.
Knowledge, Skills and
Experience
- Tertiary degree in Accounting or Finance
- Current or working towards Membership of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles and solid understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Experience in budgeting and forecasting
- Knowledge and experience with Oracle financials, Maximo or other ERP’s an advantage
- Advanced MS Office application knowledge particularly Excel
- Ability to create and maintain excellent relationships with all business team members
