Control Systems Apprentice (Instrument / Electrical)
Position Summary
To train on the job and gain experience in maintenance work to complete all the requirements of a National Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Level 4), and a National Certificate in Industrial Measurement and Control (Level 4); becoming a competent, qualified Control Systems Technician.
Position Responsibilities
- Ensure the formal apprenticeship qualifications required are completed in the appropriate timeframe.
- Provide support in coordinating and assisting Control Systems Technicians with control systems related work.
- Train in other related areas of the company to provide an awareness of the work undertaken and interact with the people in these areas.
- Become familiar with and comply with relevant standards, codes of practice, and New Zealand legislation.
- Ensures that all maintenance and minor modifications to the plant are implemented in accordance with Methanex standards and best practices.
- Participate in daily toolbox meetings as well as monthly department meetings.
Position Qualifications
- NCEA Level 2 in Math and English
- Control systems or electrical pre-trade qualification (preferred)
- Previous work experience in related field (preferable)
- Understanding of petrochemical industry
- Good level of literacy and numeric ability
- Intermediate level computer skills
- Ability to problem solve, diagnose and identify solutions
- Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with a wide cross section of people
- Ability to learn and develop
- Current NZ driver’s license
