Summer Intern - Assistant Chemist

Position Summary

To assist with making improvements to the Quality Management System and the annual ground water bore survey.

Responsibilities

• Ground water bore survey across three sites: Motunui, Waitara Valley and Port Taranaki.
  • Manage the bore sampling schedule
  • Sample, analyse and report results
• Laboratory quality control
  • Validation and calibration of volumetric cylinders, test tubes and laboratory glassware
• Document records system migration.
  • Transition from current paper-based (FileTrak) to an Electronic system (FileTrak)
  • Upgrade and digitisation of hardcopy records to enhance data accessibility and traceability

 Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Undertaking Bachelor Science (Chemistry) or Bachelor Engineering (Chemical) in 2^nd or 3^rd year
• Chemical laboratory experience preferred
• Good computer / Microsoft literacy
• Customer focus
• Team work

• Problem solving
• Time Management
• Full New Zealand Drivers Licence and available transport to Methanex site in Motunui required (public transport is not available)
• Ability to drive a manual vehicle
