Summer Intern - Reformer Tube Analytics


Position Summary

To collate and consolidate current individual regional guidelines relating to Reformer Tube Life management tools and methods, and produce a Corporate Document on how to record and analyse plant data.

Responsibilities

  • Develop corporate guidance documentation for reformer tube management systems across all manufacturing sites.
  • Collate and consolidate existing tools and methodologies currently used and incorporate into a comprehensive document.
  • Define and document best practices for capturing and analysing key plant data, including:
    • Diametral and axial permanent strain
    • Thermal cycles
    • Life consumed using in-house software
    • Future life projection
  • Establish replacement strategy framework, identifying key inputs and parameters for reformer tube replacement.
  • Build a financial model to support cost benefit analysis and long term planning for reformer tube replacement and maintenance strategies.
  • Generate an inspection model, including destructive testing,  to allow for timely turnaround planning.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Completed 3rd or 4th year in Bachelor of Engineering or 3rd year in Computer Science
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel
  • Coding in Python
  • Decision Making
  • Strong software and coding skills
  • Analytical and research experience
  • Results driven, and goal orientated
  • Well organised
  • Communicates well within own group and other departments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to pick up and learn new programming languages
  • Inquisitive and challenging
  • Available transport to Methanex site in Motunui required (public transport is not available)
